Growing a Facebook Business Page is not an easy task. Ever since Facebook went public, they show your posts to fewer and fewer followers if you don’t pay to boost your posts. There are still ways to grow your page without paying money to boost your posts. With the recent changes to Facebook, these tips may actually help more than paid posts!
Is your business page mobile friendly?
Did you know your Facebook Business Page displays differently on mobile devices? Give your page a look on your phone and see if the cover photo fits nicely or is chopped up. Over half the Facebook users are engaging from mobile devices, so it is important to have your business page look good on mobile devices. If you need help figuring out the sizing, check back to this post I wrote last year.
How are your photos?
First of all, every post on your Facebook page should have a photo. People tend to ignore posts that are text only. Social media photos don’t have to be perfect, and phone photos often work fine, but they still need to be good photos. Who wants to click on a blurry, cut off photo? Photos are the eye candy, a big reason people will read your post or click on the link on your page. Make sure your cover photo is extremely nice, and if possible taken by a professional.
Quit posting your listings and just solds!
Who really cares about what you listed or sold besides you or the client who was involved? Use the 80/20 rule to post no more than 20% of your posts with listings and just sold properties. When you do post about them, send the post link to the seller or buyer, and ask them to share your post on their Facebook personal page. Your buyers and sellers love to see are posting about their transaction, and are ideal for promotion! By clients sharing your post, it creates engagement, and gets your page and services out to others from a non-Realtor person.
Get personal occasionally!
People are coming to your business page to find out about you. Remember to post something personal now and then. Perhaps you caught a large fish and have a photo of that. Maybe your children did something super cute, and you could post a photo of that. People who like your page want to know about you.
Engagement is key!
Engagement is the key to a successful business page! Look at some pages that are very successful and see what types of things they are posting, and how they are responding to comments. Remember to post local events and happenings. Everyone loves to know what is going on around them. Add in a question or another line which drives readers to post a comment. Posting alone is not enough. Go back and engage with those who comment on your posts. Facebook is paying a lot of attention to pages with engagement right now. Pages with good engagement are being shown to many more people than those with little or no engagement.
It’s not all that hard. Try to spend a few minutes every day to check your business page, post something, and engage with your fans. Your numbers will not grow overnight, but they will start to climb over time.
