The world is in a state no one has ever seen. We don’t know from one day to the next what will be changing, including the business of real estate. Even if you are not able to sell homes as usual, now is an ideal time to work on building your business. What you do now will come to fruition in 3 to 6 months.
Start by having a positive attitude. There is plenty of doom and gloom around, people are looking for positivity. No one knows for sure how the whole pandemic thing will play out, although everyone has their opinion, but one thing is for sure, people will always need to buy and sell homes.
Take care of yourself. Give yourself some down time, some alone time. Even if you don’t think the situation is bothering you, it probably is. Having our lives change from day to day, hour to hour is stressful for everyone.
Keep a routine going. Even if you are not going into the office or out to meet with buyers and sellers, go to your home office and work virtually, make calls, work on updating your systems. This is not an unpaid vacation, it is a time where real estate is fortunate to be considered an essential business. Follow the rules laid out and use this to time to your advantage.
If you choose to list and sell homes now, that is great, but whether you do or not, work on building your business by contacting your clients and your sphere. Now is the time where you probably do have the time to check in on everyone.
The most powerful tool you have right now is the internet. Most companies have promised there will be no data limits or cancelled contracts during this virus outbreak. More people than ever will be online, so use that to your advantage. Make sure your online presence is up to date, including websites and social media accounts.
Social media can be a very powerful tool, like it or not. Facebook usage is up about 200% according to some statistics right now. If you have social media accounts use them. Post about what is happening in the real estate industry, post about other positive things going on around the world. Schedule a live event on Facebook, invite your clients to watch you live talking about whatever subject you choose. Posting alone on social media is not enough. In order to really be effective, monitor your posts and respond to any comments in a timely manner. People are on social media to interact, not to just read.
